This policy explains what we do with your personal information when you contact LJS Construction Services Ltd or use ljsconstruction.co.uk. We have tried to write it in plain English rather than legal boilerplate.
We are a small family run business. We do not sell your details, we do not run mailing lists, and we do not pass anything to third parties for marketing.
LJS Construction Services Ltd is a building, masonry and landscaping contractor working across Kent and South London. For the purposes of UK data protection law we are the “data controller” for the information described here.
You can reach us at ljs@ljsconstruction.co.uk or 07976 372934.
When you use our contact form, we collect your name, email address, phone number, and optionally your postcode, along with the service you are asking about, your rough budget and timescale, how you heard about us, and whatever you write in the message box.
When you call or email us directly, we hold whatever you choose to tell us.
We do not use analytics or advertising cookies. The site sets no tracking cookies and we do not use Google Analytics, advertising pixels or similar. That is why there is no cookie banner.
We use your details to reply to your enquiry, arrange a site visit, prepare a quotation and carry out work you ask us to do. The lawful basis is either taking steps at your request before entering a contract, or our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us.
Where we hold records relating to work we have carried out, we may also be relying on a legal obligation, for example keeping accounting records or building control paperwork.
Enquiries submitted through the website are delivered to our inbox by an email delivery provider, and the website and our email are hosted by established service providers. They act on our instructions only, they do not use your information for their own purposes, and all of them are bound by data protection terms. We can tell you who they are on request.
The contact form is protected from automated spam by Cloudflare Turnstile. Turnstile checks that a submission comes from a person rather than a bot. It does not track you across websites and does not build an advertising profile.
We may share details with tradespeople, suppliers or professionals working on your project where that is necessary to carry out the work, and with our accountant or insurers where required. We will not share your details with anyone else without asking you first, unless we are legally required to.
If your enquiry does not lead to work, we keep it for up to two years in case you come back to us, then delete it. Where we have carried out work for you, we keep project and financial records for six years after the end of the relevant tax year, as required for tax and to deal with any later questions about the work.
Under UK GDPR you have the right to ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, to have it corrected if it is wrong, to ask us to delete it, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to ask for it in a portable format. Email us and we will deal with it within one month.
If you are not happy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would rather you spoke to us first so we can put it right.
The site is served over HTTPS and enquiries are transmitted encrypted. No system is perfect, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information and limit who can see it to the people who need it.
If we change how we handle personal information we will update this page and change the date at the top.
Any questions about this policy, or about your information, just get in touch.
